Professional Development Days are complimentary courses to the current program "Certificate in Couple & Family Therapy Studies". The Certificate program and the Professional Development Days are offered jointly by the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (OAMFT) and the Office of Open Learning. The Professional Development workshops will cover theory, approaches, practices and current information on specific topics. Each course is taught at the graduate level and consists of 5-6 contact hours. The Association has identified these topics as areas of interest to their current membership and within the industry. Instructors are American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Clinical Members with significant agency and/or private practice experience, and experienced in facilitating or teaching in groups. These courses alone do not qualify one to become a couple and family therapist. It is strongly recommended that participants engage in their own program of clinical practice and supervision, and clinical internship programs The three (3) Professional Development Workshops are offered as a means to respond to increase interest in new areas of study and /or approaches. Program recognizes the need for on-going learning for the members and to assist them to stay abreast in the rapidly changing field of relationship counselling. New Professional Development Workshops are offered to provide: new information, research, models, tools, approaches, and techniques in the therapy counselling field. Workshop curriculum will provide students and members current knowledge in industry approaches, standards, and practices, and contribute to building consistent education levels within their professional industry. Courses are one (1) or two (2) days.
