When sex is problematic rather than pleasurable, it is a source of personal distress and conflict within a relationship. Low or no desire for sex, Internet infidelity, sexual compulsions and sex addiction are among the “new” sexual issues frequently raised in therapy. Sexual disorders such as; premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, painful intercourse, and anorgasmia continue to disrupt personal lives and intimate relationships. Objectives
Method(s) of Instruction Information will be presented in a lively and interesting fashion, using Power Point, video and case presentations, role-plays as well as experiential exercises. There will be ample time for discussion and questions. Participants who would like a more in-depth discussion of a particular issue or case are encouraged to submit a brief (one page) synopsis of the case or issue at least one week prior to the start of the course. In addition to course material, each participant will take home a “sex therapy survival kit” which will include instructions for standard sex therapy exercises, information regarding the sexual side effects of common medications, materials regarding sexual aids (lubricants, vibrators, dilators) as well as listings of resources such as books, websites and videos for both clients and professionals The Sex Therapy Training meets the certificate requirements of the Board of Examiners for Sex Therapy and Counselling of Ontario (BESTCO) and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counsellors, and Therapists, (AASECT) Instructors: Dr. Peggy Klienplatz |
